Raised in the Live Free or Die State
Joe was raised in Wakefield, New Hampshire and worked for his family's small business. At a young age, Joe worked as an auction runner at the family's auction barn in Rochester and picked blueberries during the summer at Daily's Blueberry Mountain Farm in Brookfield to help pay for his grammar school clothes. Joe went on to become a pot-washer, cook, and head cook at Pierce Camp Birchmont in Wolfeboro for nine summers during high school and college.
Joe attended Spaulding High School where he played varsity soccer and basketball. Joe went on to study History at the University of New Hampshire and minored in small business management. At UNH, he was a member of the Division I soccer team.
In 1980, Joe joined the United States Marine Corps. Joe is a Lt. Colonel and a Veteran of three conflicts: the Persian Gulf War, Iraq War, and the Afghanistan War.
Joe has been the Executive Councilor for District 1 since 2021 and previously served as the District 1 Councilor from 2014-2019. From 2003 to 2009 he was the State Senator for District 3 and served in the NH House of Representatives from 1995 until 2003.
Joe currently lives in Wakefield with his wife and has two children and is an avid hiker. When not on the trail or enjoying New Hampshire's outdoors you can find him throughout the District meeting with constituents, helping small businesses, and assisting those who need help navigating the various landscapes of state government.
